Not as good as our current back 5 and back up was Joey O' Brien.

What happened to Adrian? In a relatively short time, he went from being selected for the Spain national squad to dropping below Randolph in the pecking order. Marriage/parenthood?

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
I'd probably say above average premiership quality, falling short of the top quality bracket. The issue for me is that he sends quite injury prone.

Certainly more than good enough for us at the moment

I am just pointing out that reid is nothing special.

I think oxford has the potential to be much better than reid, but many on here rate reid as "quality". I would say he is an average midtable premier league centerback.

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
Yes, very good for a mid table side, shouldn't get relegated with that to be honest

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
Rio, who was for a period possibly the best CB in the world?!

You are correct, they don't compare with him. And?

Animal 1:40 Fri Jul 14
Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
As much as the first 5 is important, with the number of games and our hideous injury record, I think the second 5 is just as important, and it looks pretty good.

Over the next season or two, I would like to see the older cbs start to step back for the three youngsters. Keep at least one in the squad this season to prepare to step in, and the other two can be slipped in next year

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
Reid is nothing special, always has an injury in him and will never be anything greater than a midtable centerback. Cant exactly compare him to the likes of rio can we?

That's potentially one of the most inaccurate things I've read on here.

Congratulations Grasshopper

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
given that last seasons was one of the worst i can recall i'd say 'no'.
however, defending is a team effort so you cant just blame the defenders. the lack of aggression & pressure trying to win the ball back was pathetic at times.

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
As others have said, if we were to get Hart on loan and sell Adrian then I think it's a big risk... what if we then lose Hart at end of season... then we have to spend money on an Adrian replacement which will almost certainly cost more than we'd get for selling him now.

Re: Is this potentially the stongest back 5 in years?
"I've lost faith that he wants to do it."

you mean because he has publicly said many times that he doesnt want to play in defence? what a revelation!
